Students Detained for Using Three-finger Salute from The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games definitely made its mark as one of the most anticipated movie moments in the history. That's why it's a no-brainer to expect anyone from adapting its iconic scenes into real life. Just like what happened in Thailand recently, Student activists got detained for using one of the films' iconic three finger salute.

According to TheHungerGamesWikia:

"It is an old and rarely used gesture of our district, occasionally seen at funerals. It means thanks, it means admiration, it means goodbye to someone you love."―Katniss Everdeen
The District 12 sign is used by District 12 residentswhen they have to say thanks or just to show that the person is loved and respected by them. It's a gesture of admiration, gratitude and saying goodbye to someone you love.
The students got detained by the police then handed to military authorities. Army officials confirmed to the New York Times that the student protesters were held for ‘attitude adjustment’ for hours before being released but they could still be charged with martial law.

The three-finger salute is seen in the Hunger Games movies and novels as a form of protest during the uprising against the oppressive Capitol in the fictional Panem in which Thailand Protesters may relate to in their country. Thai military earlier posted a warning this year that anyone raising the salute in public could face arrest,

According to Reports, the arrest happened ahead of the Thailand premiere of Mockingjay Part 1 wherein students wore T-shirts that read ‘We don’t want the coup’during a speech by Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha.
